After beta testing last summer on both iOS and Android platforms, Microsoft has now rolled out Skype for Business application for iOS users. It is now available on App iTunes Store.
Keeping the custom of similarities of Skype and Skype for Business client, Skype for Business for iOS has the feel and look of consumer Skype app. Similar to the Consumer Skype, you can IM, make audio and video calls, conference calls. In addition, the app includes many business users focused features, for instance enhanced security and integration with Active Directory Authentication Library.
The Skype for Business for iOS user interface drastically differs from Lync app with a contact search bar on the top, along with upcoming meetings and most recent conversation menus. The contact search bar allows you to search your Global Address List by first or last name, phone number or email alias, and start a conversation right away given that the person have a Skype ID. Also, retrieving your conversation and attending your meetings is much easier now.
In addition, the app gives you an enhanced in meeting experience through full screen video, large mute button and ability to add participants and manage your calls easily. You can simultaneously view the content being shared and speaker’s video.
IT admins for Office 365 users can now take advantage of Active Directory Authentication Library by configuring multi-factor authentication for Skype for Business iOS app. With the increased level of security, users can check a phone call, text or app notification only through correctly entering their user name and password.
Though Lync 2013 iOS users will automatically get updated to the Skype for Business app, new users can get the app from Universal app in the iTunes Store. iPad users with Lync 2013 also need to get app downloaded from the iTunes Store.
